Tokyo Joe's - Surprise

I don’t usually leave food reviews. But I feel like this place really deserves it. I’ve been going to this location for quite some time and I know they have the same staff working there. The food is so consistently good and fresh. I don’t feel like I’m just going to a place to pay for packaged food that they’re reheating. I can actually see them cooking the food and the staff in the kitchen look like chefs. I wasn’t expecting that from this place. I really like how healthy and clean the food is. The restaurant itself is really peaceful and clean as well!

Sauces are always missing. My order is the same every time: two peanut sauces for spring rolls and one teriyaki sauce for my teriyaki chicken bowl, which it should already come with it. Either I get 2 peanut sauces and no teriyaki sauce or I get one of each when 2 peanut sauces are ordered. It's like someone is picking and choosing instead of putting the right amount that's ordered in the bag. I've ordered online so that I can pick up and sauces are always missing there as well. This has happened a few times when I'm there in person so I have to ask for the right amount I ordered. I distinctly remember only one time I actually drove away and I had to drive back for the sauces. It's really my fault for not looking in the bag before I left the establishment. It's incredibly bothersome when I'm about to eat my food after work (either pickup or delivery) and it never fails that something is always missing.

Clean and very polite staff. I've searched everywhere for a location since moving from the East Valley, and I was so happy to have found this one. My only complaint was that the portions of protein were substantially smaller than they used to be. I'm not sure what you need to do in order to get a decent sized portion of meat but for almost $30 for two people I would think it's not an unreasonable request.

Perfectly wedged between other favorites, I decided to try something new! Finding healthy places like this makes me feel better about when I have to eat on the road. Their ambiance and atmosphere is modern and appropriate for the cuisine. The kids meals are a perfect portion for me, as I don’t want too much, just a nice bowl amount. I got the chicken teriyaki kids bowl. The restaurant is clean, staff is friendly and the bathrooms are clean and also modern.

Came through town for a training class and stopped to eat here twice as I enjoyed it and felt like some more Japanese food. Pretty good overall and lots of authentic dishes and options. Maybe I missed it on the menu somewhere but only nitpick I had was I didn't see Chashu pork as an option for the noodle/ramen bowls. Just something I always find or get on my ramen in real Tokyo . Overall though would definitely recommend.

If I can give 100 stars to the staffs for excellent service, I would. We were waiting outside for them to open when their chef was kind enough to let us know they were. The staffs were the friendliest and kindest people I have ever dealt with in the food industry. They even remember their regulars and they warmly greeted everyone. They also regularly checked if we needed anything and asked how our food was. Our food was good. I wish they had some ramen (soup) options and not just bowls. They have a lot of healthy options to choose from. The place was clean and organized. The decors looked cool. Will definitely come back.

Food was delicious, service was fantastic, place was clean and very cool decorations. Only problem and reason for the 4 stars is that my girlfriend's and my food didn't come with any sauce on it, thankfully she asked me to go back inside and get extra sauce on the side before we drove home. Also my custom bowl didnt have all the ingredients I selected and paid for in it. Other than that it was great and we would both definitely eat there again!

Healthy carry out, or dine in with a table of 4 or less- Tokyo Joes is my favorite place and has been a standby for over 15 years when I would go to eat quite often in Colorado. I went today, and go at least once a week, sometimes more often if I am really craving it. The build your own bowl is perfection, and this year I have really enjoyed the new menu items added also! I get the Poke Bowl often too. Its great for someone that has preferences because it is all customizable! The staff is great; kind, friendly, and always gets my order right. I suggest eating in the restaurant, as the food is delicious and fresh and perfectly cooked and veggies are just the right amount of crunchy. The take home containers are great for re-using for meal portioning or tupperware, and I see a lot of health conscious people like EMT and Police dining there - Clean ingredients and Protein choices make it easy and you feel good the rest of the day with the right fuel!
